Looking forward to 2012

A few things we can expect to happen in 2012...

A survey of Breastfeeding in the UK is carried out every 5 years:
The final stage of the Infant Feeding survey: a full report is expected to be published by the NHS IC in Summer 2012.
(The early stages of the 2010 Infant Feeding Survey was published in June 2011. It gave details of initiation rates, and the full report will include continuation rates.)

Hopefully, the number of Baby Friendly Awards for Hospitals in the UK will be impressive once more, building on the achievements of 2011.

An in-depth study on the financial benefits of Breastfeeding for UK plc... due to be published Spring 2012.
(View this blog page for a summary of Research news for 2011)

Breastfeeding Awareness Week 2012 will be a shining example of balanced media coverage and governmental support of  Breastfeeding. No, really.
It will be 11th May - 17th May, according to this source, whilst the Scottish NHS site has it down for June, but with the proviso "TBC".

Here in Flintshire, 2012 will see the number of fantastic VOLUNTEER Peer Supporters double, and we hope to begin inviting mothers to antenatal groups where they can learn about Breastfeeding. I'm sure the Peer Support groups will continue to go from strength-to-strength, supporting mothers far and wide across the County.
